Sutter is one of Lakeland's most accomplished wrestlers. He is Lakeland's only two-time NCAA Division III All-American, and his third-place finish at nationals in 2009-10 is the highest national finish in program history. At the time, he was just the second wrestler in Lakeland history to become an All-American.

He was a three-time Northern Wrestling Association champion at heavyweight (2008, 2009 and 2010) and finished second as a freshman. He is second in career wins (112), was the first wrestler in program history to win 100 career matches and is one of just three all-time to eclipse the century mark.

Sutter was part of two teams that had top-30 finishes in the nation. The Muskies finished 21st in the nation in 2008-09 when Sutter was a junior and 26th in the nation in 2009-10, his senior season.
