David was a basketball standout from 1966-69. In 1968 he set a Lakeland record with 17 assists against Chicago State and finished the 1968-69 season with a single-season record for free throw percentage. He led the team in assists three times and was a two-year captain. He also played in 40 consecutive conference victories. He was a coach, teacher, and athletic director for 30 years and has been nationally recognized for his athletic contributions.
