Waymon was one of the best basketball players in school history. A four-year all-conference basketball standout, he finished with 1,974 points and 1,748 rebounds, among the best in school history. He was an NAIA all-district and all-American third team selection, team captain and MVP. He scored 55 points against Milton as a senior and grabbed 39 rebounds against Chicago State as a junior. He was named the Muskies’ top basketball player of the first 50 years of intercollegiate athletics.
