The Muskie Spotlight returns, and we caught up with Lakeland men's golfer Brandon Bloechel.

What year are you currently in at Lakeland?
Sophomore

What's your major and minor?
Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing, minor in History

What are you looking to do after graduating from Lakeland?
Working for or helping manage a business, maybe involved with golf

What has been your favorite golf course you have played at?
My favorite golf course that we have tournaments at is Blackwolf Run; I have had a lot of great memories there growing up as well as in college. I also have worked there in the summer for the past couple of years, so I spend a lot of time out there.

What made you choose Lakeland? Was there anything that made Lakeland stand out from any other schools you were looking at?  Given that you are from the Sheboygan area did that play a role in your decision.
I chose Lakeland mainly because it is close to my house, and I can travel back and forth from school. I can maintain my job that I had before and hang out with my friends from high school, so my routine doesn’t differ much from high school which I like. I could maintain playing golf for a school which I liked, and I could spend a lot of time with my family. I also liked the small class sizes and family feel on campus.

Your team has had the chance to travel for some tournaments this spring, going to Texas and then Ohio this past weekend. What has it been like, or how have you and the team enjoyed getting to see some different places and play some different courses, and how do you feel about how you played at those events?
Traveling with the team has been a great experience as it is something that historically, Lakeland golf has never gotten the opportunity to go that far south, so I thought it was a great opportunity to play golf early in warm places. I think that seeing new places and playing new courses helped bond with the team but also increased our skills as we were placed in places we never had been in before in different conditions. Overall, a really good experience for our team that I believe will help the team and the program move forward. I thought I played okay, some good and some bad, always room for improvement, but helped the team which is my main focus.
