Dillon Bera has joined the Lakeland College wrestling program’s coaching staff as an assistant coach, Muskies Head Wrestling Coach Quincy Osborn has announced.
Bera is the first full-time assistant coach in the program’s history. He comes to Lakeland after spending last year as an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
“Hiring Dillon is another huge step for our program in a lot of ways,” said Osborn. “He is a guy that has had a lot of success on the mat and off. He will be able to work out with the guys, mentor them, and help them prepare for their future success.”
Bera was a four-time NCAA Division II All-American at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside from 2010-13. Competing at 157 lbs., his highest finish was as national runner-up and he also finished third, seventh and eighth in other trips to nationals. Bera was a two-time team captain at UW-Parkside and won over 100 college matches. He also was a two-time NCAA Academic All-American and was awarded UW-Parkside’s Male Career Achievement Award in 2013.
Bera hails from Kaukauna, Wis., and was a two-time state qualifier in high school, and was a WIAA Division 1 state champion as a senior. He also was a team captain for a Kaukauna High School team that placed second in the team state tournament.
“Dillon is from a local high school,” said Osborn, “and he will immediately provide a boost to our recruiting efforts and connections to the Wisconsin wrestling community.
“In the hiring process it was apparent that he has the fire, passion, and determination that I was looking for. The vision for the program is to train and win at the highest level, Dillon shares the same mindset and work ethic in order to help facilitate that. Along with our staff mindset, the administration here at Lakeland College has proven their substantial support for the program vision, now and into the future.”
Bera earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from UW-Parkside in the spring of 2013.
