The Lakeland College women's soccer team fell to Aurora University, 3-0, snapping the Muskies four-game Northern Athletics Conference win streak on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Lakeland.

The Muskies (7-10, 6-4 NAC) made scoring difficult on the Spartans, who are still undefeated in conference play, preventing them from finding the back of the net until the game was 24 minutes in. However, Aurora's second goal just before half off a corner kick seemed to eliminate Lakeland's confidence.

"Giving up that second goal before half was the big thing," said head coach Dave Madsen. "Once they got that goal, it kind of took the wind out of our sails. If we could have kept it at 1-0, we would have had a better chance mentally at coming back in the second half. But, I thought we played for the full 90 minutes, and our concentration was there."

While the Muskies were unable to create a solid attack going forward, the Spartans hammered Lakeland's back line with 10 shot attempts in the second half alone, finding purchase on one of them for their third and final goal of the game. Freshman goalkeeper Whitney England attempted to fend off the attacks, coming up with five saves.

The Muskies will wrap up their regular season NAC schedule next week with two games left against Concordia, Wis., and Benedictine.

"We still have a lot of work to do," Madsen said. "We need to make sure we solidify our spot in the conference tournament. Both of the games we have left are teams that are pretty even with us talent-wise. We are in control of our own fate, we just have to go out there and take care of business."

Game time with Concordia is set for Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m. at Lakeland.
