Rogers scores four as the Muskies down the Warriors

Freshman Lindsey Rogers scored four goals for the first time in her college career as the Lakeland women's soccer team defeated Wisconsin Lutheran, 5-2, Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee.

Rogers (Sheboygan), who leads the Muskies (6-5 overall, 3-2 NAC) with 15 goals, scored the first goal of the contest in the second minute. Lakeland built a 3-0 lead with goals by Kristi Borts (Greenfield) and Rogers' second of the night. A pair of goals in the final 13 minutes of the half by Sam Nommensen and Trish Mahnke of Wisconsin Lutheran cut the Lakeland lead to one at halftime.

Rogers would add insurance goals in the 66th and 82nd minutes to seal the Lakeland victory.

The Muskies outshot the Warriors on the day 19-15 and had 12 shots on goal to Wisconsin Lutheran's nine.

Lakeland returns to action this Tuesday at home in a conference bout against MSOE beginning at 4 p.m.
