Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Titans top Muskies despite good work in goal by Mannebach

OSHKOSH – Freshman goalkeeper Thomis Mannebach (Florence, Wis.) made 14 saves in his first collegiate start, keeping the Lakeland College men's soccer team close in a 2-0 loss to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Wednesday night.

The Titans controlled possession for most of the match and scored late in the first half and midway through the second half of the non-conference match. The Muskies fell to a good Oshkosh team and dropped to 4-9-1 overall this season.

Lakeland was outshot 33-7 for the match but Mannebach kept his team in it with seven saves in the first half and seven more in the second half.

He was nearly able to keep the match scoreless into halftime, but the Titans' consistent pressure finally paid off when Michael Dugan scored with 2:42 left in the first half for a 1-0 lead.

UW-Oshkosh (9-5-1) added an insurance goal at 68:22 of the match when Matt Cheaney scored from five yards out. The Muskies briefly made a rush near the end with a pair of corner kicks and missed shots by Cody Mauthe (So.-Seymour, Wis.) and Zachary Kline (So.-Luxemburg, Wis.), but the Titans held on for the shutout.

Kline led Lakeland with three shot attempts, including one of the team's three shots on goal. Mirko Tadic (Sr.-Santiago, Chile) and Brian Herrmann (So.-Hortonville, Wis.) also added shots on goal.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Sam Gabrilska made three saves to earn the shutout. Fourteen different players attempted shots in the match for the Titans, who currently lead the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings.

The Muskies are back home Saturday when they host Benedictine (Ill.) University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at 3:30 p.m.
