MADISON – Edgewood College shot 59.6% from the field and the Lakeland College men's basketball team had a rare rough night in a 93-61 loss Tuesday evening at the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
The Eagles made 31 of 52 shots from the field, including 12 of 21 three-pointers. Lakeland was unable to keep up and dropped to 11-4 overall and 7-3 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, one game ahead of Edgewood (8-8 overall, 7-4 NACC).
The Eagles never trailed, building the lead to 10 points by midway through the first half and closing the half on a 26-10 run over the final 11 minutes. The hosts made six of their first nine three-point attempts and 14 of 24 from the field in building a 44-26 halftime lead.
The Muskies had no better luck in the second half, as Edgewood scored the first four points out of halftime to go ahead by 22. The Eagles seemed to keep building the margin, leading by as many as 37 before both teams started emptying benches with more than six minutes remaining in the game.
Lakeland shot 41.8% (23 of 55) and was just 2-for-13 from three-point range. The Muskies also were out-rebounded 35-24.

So.-Coon Valley, Wis.) led Lakeland with 14 points, making 6 of 8 shots from the field.
Brandon James (
Fr.-Rockford, Ill.) added 10 points, while no other player scored more than six.
Dylan Rusch scored 15 points to lead five players scoring in double figures for Edgewood. The Eagles' final shooting percentages actually represented a slight decline from a high of 64.3% midway through the second half and 12-for-16 three-point shooting before missing their final five three-point tries.
The Muskies will be back on the court Thursday night when they host Marian University at 7 p.m. at the Woltzen Gymnasium.
