The Muskies (6-2 overall, 4-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) shook off a slow start to roll past Concordia Wisconsin 48-21 last week, keeping the Cheese Bowl trophy for the second straight year.
Kezlow Smith (
Sr.-Pontiac, Mich.) rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns and also added another touchdown receiving,
Dezmen Morse (
So.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) had career highs with eight receptions for 177 yards, and
Michael Whitley (
So.-Vidalia, La.) was terrific again with 383 yards passing and four touchdown passes plus another touchdown rushing, on the way to winning NACC Offensive Player of the Week honors for a conference-record fourth straight week.

The Regents (2-6 overall, 0-4 NACC) were defeated at home by Benedictine 20-7 on a mud-filled field last week. Rockford limited the Eagles to just 246 yards of offense and trailed just 13-7 late in the fourth quarter until fumbling deep in its own territory, allowing the visitors to add a touchdown with less than three minutes to play. The Regents struggled offensively, gaining just 112 yards for the game-including 57 on a touchdown run by Tremaine Berry in the first quarter-and a total of three first downs.
Lakeland and Rockford are meeting for the eighth time ever and the eighth straight year. The Muskies remain perfect all-time against the Regents with a 7-0 record in the series entering Saturday. That includes a 34-7 win last year at home, a game in which Lakeland's defense limited Rockford to 146 yards of total offense, including -18 yards on the ground. Smith caught nine passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns, Michael Esiobu (Sr.-Chicago, Ill.) added a 67-yard touchdown catch and the defense sacked Regents quarterback Andrew Stochl six times. The Muskies are 4-0 at home and 3-0 on the road in a series that started in 2008, the first season of football in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.Live video, audio and statistics for the game will be available from Lakeland College at
