Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tadic scores twice, Muskies top Coe for first win

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Mirko Tadic (Sr.-Santiago, Chile) scored twice and Thomis Mannebach (So.-Florence, Wis.) earned his first collegiate win in goal as the Lakeland College men's soccer team defeated Coe (Iowa) College 2-0 Sunday on the second day of the Illinois College Invitational.

Tadic scored his second and third goals of the season and finished the weekend with three goals in two days as the Muskies split two matches in Illinois. Lakeland also is now 1-2 overall this season, while Coe dropped to 0-2-1.

Tadic scored once in each half, including the match's first goal just 8:46 in. Dustin Garbe (So.-Sheboygan, Wis.) picked up the assist with a pass through the middle to Tadic, who fired and scored from just inside the 18-yard box.

The score remained that way into the second half and the 57th minute. Freshman Tyler Shultis (Port Washington, Wis.) crossed the ball to Tadic, who found the right corner of the net with 33:54 left in the match.

Mannebach had to make just two saves to get his first collegiate win and first shutout. Both saves came in the match's first 12 minutes, including the first shot of the match less than three minutes in.

Lakeland outshot Coe 19-8, including a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal. Kohawks goalkeeper Alec Balta made five saves.

The Muskies now get ready for their home opener on Wednesday when they host Trinity International (Ill.) University. Match time is 4:30 p.m.
