Shannon Bishop (
Fr.-River Grove, Ill.) was nearly automatic on the attack and numerous players contributed to the Lakeland University women's volleyball team's three-set sweep of Rockford University Saturday morning at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
Bishop cashed in 12 kills with just one error in 20 attacks for a .550 hitting percentage and the Muskies cruised to a 25-19, 25-13, 25-21 win. Lakeland swept two Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matches in a span of 17 hours in moving to 5-3 in conference play and 12-12 overall.
Bishop was one of a number of players to have a big day, as the Muskies hit .302 with 44 kills and just 15 errors for the match.
Courtney Naser (
Jr.-Altoona, Wis.) notched seven kills,
Brittini Scoles (
Jr.-Kewaskum, Wis.) added six kills and
Eliana Arbetman (
So.-Oak Park, Ill.),
Kathy Flanagan (
Sr.-Midlothian, Ill.) and
Erin Iwanski (
Fr.-St. Francis, Wis.) all posted five kills each. Iwanski totaled five kills over the final two sets and Arbetman was a perfect 5-for-5 on the attack in the third set.
Davan Fleming (
Fr.-Cremona, Alberta, Canada) also made her first start at the setter position and was solid in passing out 37 assists while also posting four digs and three kills in four attacks.
Allison Errthum (
Jr.-Joliet, Ill.) also continued to acclimate to the libero position and totaled a match-high 20 digs.
Taylor Rossi led Rockford (1-18 overall, 0-8 NACC) with seven kills in nine attacks, 17 assists and seven digs. Alex Storey also added seven kills.
Lakeland is back in NACC play on Tuesday when it travels to face Milwaukee School of Engineering at 7 p.m. in Milwaukee.
