Edgewood College pounced for three early goals and went on to defeat the Lakeland University women's soccer team 6-0 Saturday afternoon in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play.
The Muskies faced a tough task against one of the conference's best teams and fell behind too much too early in dropping to 2-12-1 overall and 1-6 in the NACC. Lakeland also was defeated on its Senior Day as four outgoing players were honored at halftime of the match.
The Eagles (11-3 overall, 7-1 NACC) scored three times in the first 13:35 to open a quick three-goal lead. Taylor Pampuch scored all three goals, with two coming from assists by Mady Warda.
Edgewood also added two more goals late in the first half and took a 5-0 halftime lead. Emily Skaer added an unassisted goal late for the final score.
The Muskies were outshot 26-4, though they did generate some opportunities in the second half.
Stephanie Figueroa (
So.-Round Lake Park, Ill.) put a pair of shots on goal with pesky play in the offensive end, and
Makenna Waller (
Fr.-De Pere, Wis.) likewise used good work in the midfield to get off two shots.
Karisa Rowland (
Fr.-Peoria, Ariz.) went the distance in goal and made 11 saves for Lakeland. The Muskies also celebrated Senior Day for four players:

Lakeland returns to the field Wednesday when it travels to face Milwaukee School of Engineering at 7 p.m. in Milwaukee. The Muskies will have one final home match Wednesday, Oct. 26, when they host Concordia University Wisconsin.
