Facing a pair of first-year programs, the Lakeland College men's volleyball team worked quickly in a pair of three-set sweeps this weekend in Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League play.
The Muskies defeated Adrian (Mich.) College 25-7, 25-13, 25-21 on Friday and then handled Olivet (Mich.) College 25-15, 25-19, 25-11 on Saturday. Lakeland is now 10-4 overall this year and improved to 3-1 in the MCVL.
The Muskies hit well over .300 in both matches and also shut down their opponents, holding the Bulldogs and Comets to a collective negative hitting percentage. The one-sided results also saw numerous players get in on the action, with a total of 17 players playing in at least one of the two matches.
Tim Robbins (
Jr.-Wheaton, Ill.) led the team with 10 kills against Olivet and tied for the team lead with six kills against Adrian.
Dan Matijevic (
Jr.-Palatine, Ill.) added 14 kills over the two matches, including eight against Olivet and six more against Adrian, and also led the team with 12 digs over the two days.
Dakota Hunter (
Fr.-Waukesha, Wis.) also added a team-high six digs on Friday.
Addison Mertler (
Fr.-Boca Raton, Fla.) led the team with 43 assists with
Michael Quiroz (
Fr.-West Chicago, Ill.) adding 32 assists over the two matches, including 20 against Adrian.
Lakeland now is back home on Wednesday when it hosts Marian University at 7 p.m. at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
