The Lakeland University women's basketball team completed a season sweep of Marian University with a 102-54 win Tuesday night at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Muskies kept pace with the leaders in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and rebounded from a loss on Saturday to improve to 12-6 overall and 10-3 in conference play. Lakeland defeated the Sabres for the second time in three weeks and is now just one win from clinching a winning regular season record for the second straight year.
The Muskies shot 54.8% for the game (40 of 73), including 21 of 34 in the second half (61.8%). Lakeland also made 14 three-pointers in the game, including nine in the second half, and had 30 assists on its 40 made baskets.
Bailey Grayvold (
Sr.-Norway, Mich.) scored a career-high 32 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter, and also finished with six assists and six steals.
Rachel Stankevich (
Jr.-Goodman, Wis.) also added 21 points, seven rebounds and seven steals,
Tori Lauren (
Fr.-Gwinn, Mich.) chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench, and
Kayla Clark (
Sr.-West Bend, Wis.) finished with seven assists.
Marian (3-14 overall, 2-10 NACC) shot 42.9% in the first half, making 12 of 28 shots to stay within 46-34 at halftime, but the visiting Sabres made just 4 of 24 shots in the final 20 minutes (16.7%).
Lakeland is home again Saturday when it faces Benedictine (Ill.) University for a 2 p.m. tip at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium. The game will be a battle for position in the NACC, as the Eagles sit one game ahead of the Muskies in the standings in third place.
