ROCKFORD, Ill. – Erin Disanti converted a penalty kick in the 61st minute for the only goal of the match as Rockford University tipped the Lakeland University women's soccer team 1-0 Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match.
The Muskies dominated play much of the day and outshot the Regents (5-9 overall) at a rate of 3-to-1 for the match. Lakeland couldn't break through, though, and lost its seventh straight match to fall to 3-10 this season.
The Muskies spent a good portion of the afternoon threatening Rockford's goal. Lakeland attempted 18 shots to the Regents' six, including a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal. In fact, other than the penalty kick, the hosts put just one shot on goal, that coming in the latter stages of the first half.
Lakeland especially dominated the second half, with an 11-4 advantage in shots and seven shots on goal. That included five shots at Rockford goalkeeper Drew Garcia in the final 10 minutes, but Garcia stopped all of them to earn the shutout.
Karisa Rowland (
So.-Peoria, Ariz.),
Elizabeth Siebert (
So.-Mount Pulaski, Ill.),
Makenna Waller (
So.-De Pere, Wis.) and
Zeni Yacab (
So.-Chicago, Ill.) all had three shot attempts each, and in all eight of the Muskies' 13 field players to get into the match attempted at least one shot.
Grace Daehling (
Fr.-Sun Prairie, Wis.) made one save in goal for Lakeland.
The Muskies are back home Wednesday when they host Concordia University Wisconsin for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Taylor Field.
