RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Lakeland University men's volleyball team did well on the attack but faced an even hotter opponent in a four-set loss to nationally ranked Dominican (Ill.) University Friday night in at the Igini Sports Forum.

The Muskies were in good shape after the first two sets but fell to the Stars in four by a 28-26, 17-25, 25-13, 25-13 count. Dominican is ranked 13th nationally in the latest AVCA/NCAA Division III Top 15 Coaches Poll.

Lakeland (11-11 overall, 8-8 MCVL) finished with a solid .243 hitting percentage with 41 kills and just 15 errors in 107 attempts. That included a sterling .571 mark in the second set with 13 kills and just one error.

Dominican (21-2 overall, 15-1 MCVL) was even better, though, with 62 kills and 21 errors in 113 attempts for a .363 hitting percentage. The Stars were particularly hot in the third and fourth sets with 32 kills and just three errors.

Matt Stolz (Sr.-Wauwatosa, Wis.) finished with 12 kills and Dakota Hunter (So.-Waukesha, Wis.) also notched 10 kills plus five blocks (two solo, three assisted) and a team-best six digs. Casey Bolda (Sr.-Honolulu, Hawaii) also added nine kills.

Addison Mertler (So.-Boca Raton, Fla.) finished with 32 assists setting. Desmond Williams (So.-Riverside, Calif.) also posted five block assists.

Luke Spicer paced Dominican with 16 kills and 13 digs. Michal Kawa also added 13 kills and Alex Coyne finished with 49 assists.

The Muskies are in action again Saturday when they face Benedictine (Ill.) University at 1 p.m. in Lisle, Ill.
