It was a successful Senior Day for the Lakeland University softball team as it swept Rockford (Ill.) University in a doubleheader Friday afternoon.
All five outgoing Muskies provided big contributions in a 12-0, five-inning win in the opening game of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference twinbill. Lakeland also clawed out a 4-2 win in the second game to win its home finale for the season.

Mikayla Hilton (
Saukville, Wis.),
Caten Teff (
Alpena, Mich.),
Sami Jo Williams (
Sussex, Wis.) and
Jocelyn Yeager (
Elm Grove, Wis.) and outgoing junior
Jessica Beaudry (
Gladstone, Mich.) combined for nine hits, eight runs batted in and seven runs scored as part of a 15-hit outburst in the abbreviated first game. Beaudry, Hilton, Teff and Williams all had two hits apiece, while Beaudry, Teff and Yeager all added two RBIs.
Lakeland (16-22 overall, 8-12 NACC) scored at least twice in all four of its at bats in the first game, with 11 players finishing with at least one. Freshmen
Morgan Schiedemeyer (
Menomonee Falls, Wis.) and
Lexia Upson (Waterford, Mich.) also came off the bench to add RBI singles.
Niki Saviano (
Fr.-Orland Park, Ill.) and
Rikki Vela (
So.-Beach Park, Ill.) were the recipient of the run support and also were in charge in the circle, combining to allow just one hit. Saviano induced nine ground ball outs in her four innings, while Vela struck out one in a hitless fifth inning to close it out.
The Muskies also got out to an early lead in the second game, scoring two runs in the first. Beaudry hit a two-run double. Hilton added an RBI single in the third and Williams tripled to score a run in the fourth for a 4-0 lead.
Rockford (6-30 overall, 1-19 NACC) refused to go away and scored twice in the sixth, but Vela came on for the final 1 2/3 innings to pick up the save for
Lindsay Cudecki (
Fr.-Chicago, Ill.). The freshman picked up her first collegiate win, throwing 5 1/3 innings and allowing three hits and two runs with two strikeouts.
Lakeland wraps up its season Saturday when it travels to face Milwaukee School of Engineering for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
