CHICAGO – The Lakeland University women's basketball team never trailed in running its win streak to four straight games with a 68-29 defeat of Illinois Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference loop play.
The Muskies held Illinois Tech to just seven made field goals and 19.4% shooting, allowing single digit points in three of the four quarters. Lakeland improved to 7-2 overall and now is 4-1 in the NACC.
The Muskies built a 12-4 lead after one quarter and held a 20-point halftime lead at 35-15. The margin never slipped below 20 the rest of the way.
Miranda Jacobson (
Sr.-Felch, Mich.) scored 15 points and also added a career-high eight steals, one short of the school's single-game record of nine steals set by Becca Tilleman on Jan. 22, 2011 against Aurora.
Megan Will (
So.-Lake Mills, Wis.) added 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots.
Janai' Farr (
So.-Racine, Wis.) added eight points off the bench and Lakeland received 34 of its 68 points from reserves.
Kacey Gardner (
Fr.-Evergreen Park, Ill.) also added five rebounds, five assists and three steals, and
Rachel Hasko (
Jr.-Racine, Wis.) also finished with five assists. Lakeland made 27 of 66 shots from the field (40.9%) and assisted on 22 of its 27 made field goals.
Erin Efimoff scored 13 points to lead the Scarlet Hawks (0-9 overall, 0-5 NACC), who are in their first year as a member of the NACC. Shannon O'Donnell added seven points and a game-high nine rebounds.
The Muskies are on the road again Wednesday when they travel to face Finlandia (Mich.) University for a 4:30 p.m. Central time start (5:30 p.m. Eastern) in Hancock, Mich.
