VERONA, Wis. –
Travis Regalado (
Jr.-Willcox, Ariz.) hit his fourth home run of the season to provide a highlight for the Lakeland University baseball team as it lost both ends of a doubleheader with Edgewood College Tuesday.
The Muskies fell hard in losses by scores of 14-2 and 21-3 to the Eagles, the team's first games played in eight days. The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference twinbill was played three days after originally postponed on Saturday, and also was moved from Lakeland to Stampfl Field in the Madison area with the Muskies serving as the home team.
Regalado went deep for a solo homer in the second game and also scored another run on a two-run single by
Alberto Oliveras (
Fr.-Fort Myers, Fla.). He finished 3-for-3 in the second game and 5-for-6 for the day overall, including two hits in the opener.
Connor Hilburn (
Jr.-Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) and
Jacob Plucinski (
Fr.-Chicago, Ill.) also drove in runs for the Muskies in the first game, with Hilburn plating
Jody Harrison (
Jr.-Pontiac, Mich.) on a bases-loaded walk and Plucinski reaching on a fielder's choice to score
Peyton Knoll (
Jr.-Linden, Mich.).
Hilburn took the loss in the first game, throwing 4 1/3 innings and allowing eight hits and six runs with three strikeouts.
Jack Banks (
So.-Mountain View, Calif.) started the second game and allowed seven hits and eight runs in one inning, with three runs earned after the Muskies committed two errors in the opening frame.
Lakeland's home doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday against Lawrence University has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions. No makeup date has been set at this time. The Muskies are scheduled to try again for a home opener on Saturday against Wisconsin Lutheran College for a doubleheader starting at noon.
