NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Lakeland University men's tennis team finished out its season with a 9-0 loss to Aurora University Saturday morning in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference dual at the White Eagle Tennis Club.
The Muskies were competitive on the scoreboard in almost all of their matches but couldn't pull out a win and finished their season 1-11 overall and 1-7 in the NACC. Aurora moved to 5-9 overall and 3-4 in conference.
The closest showings in singles play came from
Yuki Sakata (
Fr.-Japan) and
Eeshi Vue (
Fr.-Sheboygan, Wis.). Both lost by identical 7-5, 6-2 scores, with Sakata at No. 3 singles against Chris LaPorte and Vue versus George Hill at No. 6 singles.
Nick Lange (
So.-Mukwonago, Wis.) was also defeated by Jared Burrow at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-4, while
Nathaniel Nanda (
Fr.-Elkhorn, Wis.) dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to Joe Mascha at No. 4 singles.
The Muskies' best finish in doubles came with
Jared Nummerdor (
Jr.-Waupun, Wis.) and
Dylan Skewis (
Sr.-Ishpeming, Mich.) paired up in an 8-5 loss at No. 1 doubles to Burrow and Mascha. Lange and Nanda also fell by an 8-4 score to LaPorte and Patrick MacDonald at No. 2, while Sakata and Vue were defeated 8-3 at No. 3 doubles by Colin Ritchie and Freeman Rosencrans.
