NAPERVILLE, ILL. – The Lakeland University women's volleyball team completed a successful weekend and an undefeated week with a pair of wins Saturday at the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament hosted by North Central (Ill.) College.

The Muskies defeated host North Central 25-18, 25-19, 25-15 and then followed up with a 25-8, 25-20, 25-20 win over Anderson (Ind.) University. Lakeland posted its fourth consecutive sweep this week and won its third match in less than 24 hours, following up a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference win over Edgewood College Friday night.

As they did the night before against Edgewood, the Muskies (11-6 overall) again displayed their ability to close the deal against North Central, pulling out all three sets after the Cardinals were within range of rallying late. Lakeland then dominated against Anderson, only trailing briefly in the second set in a comfortable win.

The Muskies were again efficient on the attack, hitting better than .240 in both matches. Numerous players shared in the success, with six players finishing with at least eight kills on the day.

Shannon Bishop (Jr.-River Grove, Ill.) finished with nine kills against North Central and led the team with 14 kills over the two duels while being named to the all-tournament team. Abby Baumgartner (So.-Kewaunee, Wis.) added 13 kills on the day in just 27 attacks for a .370 hitting percentage.

Lakeland also was stout at the net with a combined 17 blocks over the two matches. Emilie Schartner (Sr.-Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) contributed to 11 of them with two solo blocks and nine block assists, and Bishop added seven block assists.

Neenah Primas (So.-Oostburg, Wis.) notched 55 assists and also added eight kills from the setter spot, including five kills in seven attempts against North Central (1-12 overall).

Bishop and Allison Byrne (Jr.-Luxemburg, Wis.) led the team with eight digs in the match against North Central, the Muskies' second win over the Cardinals this year. Brianna Johnson (Sr.-Altoona, Wis.) finished with a team-high 11 digs against Anderson (7-8 overall), while Emma Bruder (Sr.-Frankfort, Ill.) and Shelby Welsh (Sr.-Ogallala, Neb.) added 10 digs each and Welsh also pitched in eight kills.

Lakeland returns to NACC play for its next match when it travels to face Benedictine University next Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. in Lisle, Ill.
