The Lakeland University football team begins the path to a fifth straight Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference football title and plays in front of the alumni when it welcomes Concordia University Chicago for a 1 p.m. kickoff Saturday as part of the Muskies' 2018 Homecoming.
The Muskies (0-3 overall) open their NACC schedule by facing their longtime opponent for the 50th time in a game that could be feature some serious ground fireworks. Concordia enters the game ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division III in rushing offense, while Lakeland's
Dezmon Eddie (Jr.-Alexandria, La.) rushed for a school single-game record 308 yards last year against the Cougars in a 49-13 win.

Lakeland was defeated by UW-Platteville 49-12 last Saturday in its final non-conference game.
Larry Rivers (
So.-Dearborn Heights, Mich.) rushed for 92 yards, while on defense,
Washington Vivanco (
Jr.-Houston, Texas) posted a career-high 13 tackles and
Ezekiel Combs (
So.-East Point, Ga.),
Paul Saucedo (
Fr.-Georgetown, Texas) and
Jerry Stokes (
Jr.-Missouri City, Texas) all picked up their first career interceptions.

Concordia (1-2 overall) was idle last week, but in its most recent game lost a 57-42 shootout to Albion (Mich.). The Cougars trailed just 29-27 in the third quarter when the Britons ripped off 28 straight points over a span of less than 10 minutes to take a 57-27 lead. Lance Moise rushed for 268 yards in defeat for Concordia, but Albion was even more potent on the ground, rushing for 442 yards as a team.
