After avenging one of its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference football losses from a year ago, Lakeland University looks to settle another score when it takes on Rockford University Saturday afternoon at Sam Greeley Field at 1 p.m.
The Muskies were dealt their first-ever loss to the Regents by a 37-20 score just over a year ago. Lakeland had won all 10 previous meetings but was defeated at home when the Regents scored 31 consecutive points from the end of the second quarter into the fourth.
Â
The Muskies (2-3 overall, 1-1 NACC) come in on a high after taking back the Cheese Bowl trophy last week with a 44-0 victory over rival Concordia Wisconsin. Lakeland jumped out to a 27-0 lead just over 15 minutes into its Homecoming game on the strength of a rash of Falcon turnovers.
Larry Rivers (132 yards) and
Dezmon Eddie (113) both rushed for 100 yards andÂ
McNemon Vincent forced a fumble and recovered two fumbles. The Muskies outgained the Falcons 521-193 for the game to bounce back strong after a loss to Concordia Chicago in their NACC opener the week before.
Rockford (1-4 overall, 0-2 NACC) was defeated by Benedictine 48-13 last week. Rockford led 6-0 after one quarter, driving 75 yards and 12 plays for an early touchdown, but stalled out after that while the Eagles exploded for 27 points in the second quarter to seize control.
