RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Lakeland University was nearly flawless on the attack and wrapped up a spot in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Volleyball Tournament with a three-set sweep at Concordia University Chicago Saturday afternoon.
The Muskies topped the Cougars 25-19, 25-17, 25-11, improving to 9-2 in conference. Lakeland can clinch at least the No. 3 seed in the upcoming conference tourney with a win in its final league match against Milwaukee School of Engineering this coming Wednesday.
The Muskies (15-14 overall, 9-2 NACC) hit .368 for the match against Concordia with 39 kills and just four attack errors. Lakeland hit .448 in the first set and .500 in the third, the latter with 14 kills in 28 attacks without an error.
Shannon Bishop (
Sr.-River Grove, Ill.) finished with 13 kills and added 11 digs while
Abby Baumgartner (
Jr.-Kewaunee, Wis.) added 10 kills without an error.
Megan Goeser (
Jr.-Plymouth, Wis.) also added eight kills from her middle blocker position.
Sydney Pingitore (

Alyssa Henline and Shannon Stamp notched eight kills each for Concordia (11-17 overall, 5-7 NACC), which hit .144 as a team with 32 kills and 17 attack errors.
Lakeland still has an outside shot at a share of the NACC regular season title if it can defeat MSOE and both Aurora University and Concordia University Wisconsin lose their final regular season matches.
