LISLE, Ill. – Benedictine University scored a pair of goals early to put the Lakeland University women's soccer in a hole it couldn't climb out of in a 4-0 loss Sunday afternoon in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play.
The Muskies were defeated in their season finale and finished the year with a 3-14-1 overall record and a 2-10 mark in the NACC. Benedictine stayed alive in its push for a spot in the NACC Tournament, improving to 6-9-1 overall and 5-5-1 in conference.
The Eagles scored just three minutes into the match on a header by Abbie Graham assisted on by Holly Ward, and Ward added Benedictine's second goal at 10 minutes, 21 seconds of the match for a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles added a third goal in the first half from Dania Abedrabbo in the 34th minute to take a 3-0 halftime lead. The score stayed that way deep into the second half until Cali Carl scored in the 83rd minute to close out the scoring.
Benedictine finished with a 29-2 advantage in shot attempts, including a 16-1 lead in shots on goal.
Haley Rich (
Fr.-West Chicago, Ill.) made 12 saves in goal for the Muskies.
Asia Danforth (
Sr.-Seymour, Wis.) posted the lone shot on goal for Lakeland in the first minute of play.
Rachel Hasko (
Sr.-Racine, Wis.) added the Muskies' other shot early in the second half.
