Series history: 34th meeting, Ripon leads 19-14
Though separated by just 1 hour 15 minutes, Lakeland and Ripon are meeting tonight for the first time since Nov. 17, 2007, when the Muskies posted a 51-31 win at home in the championship game of the Lakeland Tip-Off Tournament. This is just the second meeting between the schools since 2000, and the Red Hawks' last win over the Muskies was a 58-44 victory at Lakeland Nov. 19, 1995. Lakeland and Ripon were once regular opponents in the early years of both schools' programs when they were both members of the Wisconsin Independent Colleges-Women's Athletic Conference (WIC-WAC) before the Red Hawks joined the Midwest Conference in 1985 and Lakeland entered the Lake Michigan Conference in 1988. The two schools first met in the 1976-77 season-a 74-33 Ripon victory-and played twice each year from 1976-85 and at least once every year after that until 1992.

Lakeland last time out: Lost at #14 Wheaton (Ill.) 59-38 Tuesday
The Muskies played on the road for the first time this season, taking on the team ranked 14th in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll. The final margin obscures the fact that for three quarters Lakeland hung right with the nationally ranked Thunder. The Muskies led all but a few seconds of the first half and were back ahead 31-28 late in the third quarter when Wheaton went on a big closing kick. The hosts finished the game on a 31-7 run, with separate runs of 13 and 14 straight points. Megan Will scored a game-high 20 points and added seven rebounds while Amanda Majewski added nine points and six rebounds.

About Ripon: The Muskies continue a challenging non-conference schedule against the Red Hawks, who are playing their first game of the season tonight. Ripon finished 19-9 a year ago and is the defending Midwest Conference regular season and tournament champions. The Red Hawks finished 16-2 in conference, won the MWC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament, falling in the first round to St. Thomas (Minn.).

Seventh-year coach Lauren Johnson Busalacchi has led Ripon to three consecutive seasons of at least 17 wins, just the second time that has been accomplished in program history. Two starters and five other regulars from last year's rotation return for the team that was picked second in this year's Midwest Conference preseason poll.

Nearing the century mark: Lakeland senior guard Amanda Majewski entered the season 10th on the school's all-time list for three-pointers made, and she needs two three-pointers to reach 100 triples for her career. Majewski also needs three three-pointers to tie Taylor Jandrin (2010-14) for ninth all-time at Lakeland, and is just eight three-pointers from tying Jill Dewane (1998-2002) and her 106 threes for sixth.
