With a chance to still play its way into a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament berth, the Lakeland University men's basketball team begins the final two weeks of conference play by hosting Concordia University Chicago Monday night at 7 p.m. at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Muskies (8-12 overall, 6-9 NACC) will conclude the regular season with four of their final five games at home. It starts Monday in a redo of the game with the Cougars that was originally scheduled for this past Tuesday but was postponed due to the arctic conditions that descended upon the Upper Midwest.
Â
Lakeland was defeated by Concordia Wisconsin 83-66 on Saturday, as it couldn't keep up with the torrid shooting pace of the Falcons, who made 57.1% of their shots. The Muskies shot 35.2% in their first game in a week, with
Pat McDonald (
Sr.-Port Washington, Wis.) leading the way with 15 points.
Concordia Chicago (5-14 overall, 5-9 NACC) comes in on a high note after blitzing Wisconsin Lutheran 101-84 on Saturday. The Cougars scored at least 50 points in both halves and hit the 100-point mark for the second time this season in a dominant win over the Warriors. Landen Gladney piled up 28 points and 14 rebounds, Mitchell Pelissier scored 21 and Jalen Meeks added 18.
This is the second meeting this season between the teams. The Muskies held on for a 95-92 win in the teams' first meeting this season on Dec. 5 in River Forest, Ill. Lakeland and Concordia Chicago have played each other dating all the way back to 1950, and the Muskies have won 14 of the last 15 meetings, including the last four.
