NEW BERLIN, Wis. –
Jacob Larson (
Fr.-Wauwatosa, Wis.) again won twice and the Lakeland University men's tennis team won its second Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference dual of the season, topping Wisconsin Lutheran College 6-3 at the Princeton Club Thursday.
The Muskies (2-10 overall, 2-5 NACC) posted multiple wins in a season and multiple conference triumphs for the first time since 2015. The two wins this year also are tied for the most for a Lakeland team in a season since 2010, when the Muskies finished 8-9 overall and 5-3 in the NACC.
Larson earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over David Ullerich at No. 3 singles. He also teamed up with
Aaron Smith (
Fr.-Lake Geneva, Wis.) for an 8-5 victory over Ullerich and Tyler Fahney at No. 2 doubles.
Nick Lange (
Jr.-Mukwonago, Wis.) also won at No. 4 singles, defeating Fahney 7-5, 6-4. The Muskies' other three wins came via default as Wisconsin Lutheran (1-12 overall, 1-8 NACC) competed with just four players.
Lange and
Jared Nummerdor (
Sr.-Waupun, Wis.) also competed at No. 1 doubles, falling to Jonny Wordell and Matt Plaski 8-4. Smith also went to three sets against Plaski at No. 2 singles before going down by a 6-3, 2-6, 10-2 score.
Lakeland closes out the regular season with two matches on Saturday when it hosts Milwaukee School of Engineering at 10 a.m. and Concordia University Wisconsin at 2 p.m. Both matches will take place at Sports Core in Kohler.
