WHITEWATER – Shannon Bishop (Sr.-River Grove, Ill.) was named to the all-tournament team after the Lakeland University women's volleyball team finished out the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Volleyball Invitational with a 2-2 record, including a split of two more matches Saturday.

The Muskies defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering 25-21, 25-19, 25-12 to open the day before falling to UW-Stout 25-14, 25-19, 32-30 to close out their season-opening tournament trip.

Bishop finished the event with 43 kills over four matches and continued her personal string of honors at tournaments. The senior outside hitter also was named to all-tourney teams in each of the four events Lakeland took part in over the 2018 season.

Bishop led the Muskies with 12 kills and Abby Baumgartner (Jr.-Kewaunee, Wis.) added 11 kills in the morning win over Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference rival MSOE. Lakeland hit a robust .306 as a team, with Erin Iwanski (Sr.-St. Francis, Wis.) also adding eight kills with just one error in 12 attacks (.583 hitting percentage) and Riley Birr (Fr.-Pulaski, Wis.) added seven kills without an error in 13 swings (.538).

Neenah Primas (Jr.-Oostburg, Wis.) totaled 37 assists at the setter spot and added a team-high nine digs. Iwanski also added four block assists and finished the weekend with a team-best 13 blocks.

Baumgartner led with 11 kills and added a career-high 16 digs in the early afternoon match against UW-Stout, which was in charge the first two sets before the teams played an extra-long third set. Lakeland led 24-20 late but squandered a total of seven set points in all as the Blue Devils finished the match out.

Bishop also finished with 10 kills plus 15 digs and Allison Byrne (Sr.-Luxemburg, Wis.) added nine digs. Primas also finished with 25 assists.

Lakeland now gets ready for its home opener Wednesday when it welcomes another Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member with UW-Stevens Point coming to the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
