KOHLER – Jessica Leicht (So.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) won twice to lead the Lakeland University women's tennis team as it was defeated by Knox (Ill.) College 6-3 in its first home dual of the season Tuesday night at Sports Core.

Leicht posted a 7-5, 6-2 win over Laurel Stugart at No. 5 singles for her third singles win of the season. She also paired up with Kallie Hoeft (So.-Cascade, Wis.) for an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles over Stugart and Jamahra Richardson.

The Muskies (2-3 overall) won twice at singles in the non-conference dual, with Abby Juozapaitis (Jr.-North Prairie, Wis.) also victorious at No. 3 singles. Juozapaitis improved to 4-1 in singles matches this season with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Kathryn Allee.

Lakeland wasn't far from winning the dual against the Prairie Fire (1-4 overall), with a three-set loss in singles and another loss by retirement.

Annie Adams (Fr.-Marinette, Wis.) won her first set against Grace Kostopoulos at No. 4 singles before losing the final two and falling 2-6, 6-1, 6-3. Morgan Erbstoesser (Fr.-Union, Ill.) also won her first set at No. 6 singles against Miranda Zuckerman but was trailing in the second when she retired at 6-3, 0-4.

The Muskies are back on the courts Sunday when they host Marian University at 10 a.m. and Edgewood College at 2 p.m., with both duals at Sports Core.
