FOND DU LAC – Marian University scored twice early in the match and the Lakeland University women's soccer team never could catch up in a 3-0 loss Wednesday night in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match.
The Muskies had opportunities but it was the Sabres taking advantage of their chances early and dropping Lakeland to 2-13 overall and 2-9 in the NACC with two matches to play. Marian remained in the hunt for a spot in the NACC Tournament, improving to 6-8-1 overall and 6-5 in conference play.
The Sabres scored just 6 minutes, 23 seconds into the match when Ashley Welk scored her sixth goal of the season for an early lead. Marian scored again at 13:52 of the match with Shannon Coughlin scoring her sixth of the year for a 2-0 lead.
The score remained that way until halftime and just into the second half when Meghan Batzner scored in the 51st minute, her fourth goal of the season giving the Sabres a 3-0 lead they would hold the rest of the way.

Hanna Brouch (
Fr.-Kaukauna, Wis.) and
Virginia Perez (
