Series history: 17th meeting, Concordia leads 10-6
The series between the Muskies and Cougars was first dominated by Lakeland but has belonged of late to Concordia, which has won nine straight. The Cougars won the most recent matchup Oct. 5, 2019 by a 4-0 score at Taylor Field, with four different players scoring goals including Meghan Vasseur, who currently is a graduate assistant coach at Lakeland. The Muskies won the first five meetings in this series that started in 2001, and Lakeland's last win over the Cougars was a 2-1 decision Sept. 19, 2010, when Cheyenne Mohr scored the go-ahead goal with just over four minutes left in the match.

Lakeland last time out: Lost to Aurora 2-1 Saturday
The Muskies had their most competitive showing of the season in falling to the Spartans in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match. The teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half and until Aurora scored the first goal in the 54th minute. The Spartans added a second goal at 68:46 of the match, but Lakeland gained one back less than four minutes later when a handball in the box resulted in a penalty kick converted by Hope Cerney for her first goal of the season. The Muskies were unable to score an equalizer in the final minutes but still played their closest match since falling to Lawrence 3-1 on Sept. 3.

Concordia last time out: Tied St. Norbert 2-2 (2 OT) Saturday
The Cougars tied for the second straight game, escaping with a tie on the road in De Pere when Julianna Paulsen scored the tying goal with just seconds left in regulation. Allie Brown also scored in the first half for Concordia, which trailed for more than 62 minutes until tying in regulation. Kassie Silenzi made seven saves in goal for CUC, which extended its unbeaten streak to three games including a tie last week against Aurora and a win over Edgewood before that.

About the Cougars: Concordia has been involved in a series of close matches, with five of their last six decided by a goal or less. Other than the win over Edgewood, CUC also had the recent ties plus back-to-back one-goal losses to North Park (Ill.) and Benedictine. The Cougars finished 3-6-1 in the spring season and placed second in the NACC's South Division with a 2-2 mark. Head coach Shayni Paul is in her fourth year at the River Forest, Ill., school and has led Concordia to a pair of NACC Tournament appearances.
