ROCKFORD, Ill. – Katie Metzler (Jr.-Kewaunee, Wis.) set a career high with 18 kills, one of a number of big performances for the Lakeland University women's volleyball team in a hard-fought four-set win over Rockford University Saturday.

The Muskies had their hands full with the Regents before pulling out a 25-22, 26-28, 25-16, 26-24 win to earn a split of their Illinois trip over the weekend that also included a four-set loss at Aurora University Friday night. Lakeland comes out of the weekend with a 10-11 overall record and is 4-3 in the NACC.

Metzler blew away her previous career best of 14 kills and did so with a super-efficient performance. She hit .640 for the match with her 18 kills coming with just two errors and in 25 attacks.

Metzler was one of four Muskies to finish with double-digit kill totals. Kelly Swope (Jr.-Heyworth, Ill.) also set a career high with 15 kills, Brelynn Scoles (Jr.-Kewaskum, Wis.) finished with 12 kills and Isabella Westerholm (So.-Prior Lake, Minn.) added ten kills.

Emily Duchow (Sr.-Potter, Wis.) also dished out 42 assists, and Duchow, Scoles and Swope all finished with double-doubles. Duchow added 16 digs and Scoles and Swope finished with 13 and 11 digs, respectively. Scoles also delivered a service ace on match point in the fourth set, after Rockford (3-16 overall, 0-7 NACC) had fought off five match points after being down 24-19 in the set.

Maeve Sullivan (Jr.-Chicago, Ill.) led Lakeland with 24 digs, her fifth match this season with at least 20 digs. Jaylin Urrutia (Fr.-San Antonio, Texas) also added a career-high 12 digs.

The Muskies bounced back after a 29-27, 21-25, 25-19, 27-25 loss the night before against Aurora. Swope finished with 13 kills, Scoles posted 12 kills and 13 digs, Duchow finished with 38 assists and 14 digs and Sullivan added a team-best 26 digs.

Lakeland is on the road again for its next match Friday at St. Norbert College in De Pere at 7 p.m.
