Series history: 37th meeting, Lakeland leads 23-13
The Muskies look to keep up their recent dominance of the Stars that has included wins in 14 of the teams' last 15 meetings. Lakeland won last year's meeting 91-86 a year ago this weekend in River Forest, Ill., holding on after Dominican nearly came all the way back from a 25-point second half deficit. The Muskies have won five straight against the Stars, including the last matchup at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium by a 91-54 count Feb. 16, 2019.Dominican's last win in the series came over five years ago, a 77-76 victory in overtime at home on Feb. 4, 2017. The series dates back to Nov. 23, 1983, when Dominican defeated Lakeland 91-87 in overtime at home.

Lakeland last time out: Defeated Greenville 155-127 Thursday
The Muskies' game against the perennial NCAA Division III scoring champion Panthers lived up to expectations of scoring fireworks. Lakeland broke the 56-year old school mark for points in a game set Nov. 29, 1966 in a 154-90 victory over Judson (Ill.). The 282 combined points by both teams also smashed the previous school mark of 250 points set in a 148-102 win over MSOE Feb. 14, 1995. Caleb Fuller scored a career-high 38 points, making 16 of 21 field goals including 6 of 10 from three-point range. Christian Knox also added 23 points and 10 assists and Cam Jaeger posted 22 points and 10 rebounds. The Muskies shot 65.9% from the field, including 19 of 35 from three-point range, their 87 points in the second half set a school record for points in a half, and the team's 47 assists is also believed to be a school single-game record.

Dominican last time out: Lost to Benedictine 78-63 Tuesday
The Stars fell at home in their Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opener as the Eagles took charge inside, shooting 51.9% for the game, scoring 40 points in the paint and also winning the rebounding battle 41-26. Dominican trimmed a 15-point deficit late in the first half down to four just after halftime but got no closer and was held to its lowest point total of the season. Jacob Riedl kept the Stars in the game, scoring 21 points on 8-for-9 shooting including a perfect 5-for-5 on three-pointers, but Dominican as a team shot 43.1%.

About the Stars: Dominican has already had a more successful season than all of 2021-22, doubling its win total after finishing 2-22 overall and 1-16 in the NACC. Head coach Mark White is the dean of NACC head coaches, in his 25th season in charge of the Stars, who also recently faced Greenville (a 127-105 win) and also have defeated Beloit, Maranatha Baptist and Franklin (Ind.) this season.

Vaulting among the D-III leaders: With solid offensive numbers already coming into Thursday, playing Greenville gave a boost that now puts the Muskies among the Division III leaders in several statistical categories. Lakeland is now third in the country in scoring offense, averaging 97.8 points per game after hitting 100 points in three of its first five games. The Muskies are also fourth in three-pointers/game (13.5) and sixth in assists/game (21.5).
