MEQUON, Wis. –
Alondra Reyes (
Sr.-Milwaukee, Wis.) scored her 10th goal of the season to finish her collegiate career but it was one of few highlights for the Lakeland University women's soccer team in a 7-1 loss to Concordia University Wisconsin in its season finale Wednesday afternoon.
An overall improved Muskies team this year took one of its most lopsided losses of the season in its final game and finished the year with a 6-12 overall record. Lakeland also winds up 3-10 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and finished 12th of 14 teams in the conference.
The Falcons punched their ticket to the NACC Tournament with four goals in the first half and three more in the second half, including three goals in a span of less than nine minutes in the middle stages of the first half.
Concordia (6-9-3 overall, 5-6-2 NACC) took the lead 4 minutes, 31 seconds into the match on a goal by Autumn Snow, and then scored consecutive goals 2:47 apart, the first by Sabrina Moore in the 25th minute and the second by Snow for a 3-0 lead.
Reyes countered just 50 seconds after Snow's second goal, scoring unassisted at the 28:26 mark of the match. CUW answered just over five minutes later, though, with Carmen Rowe scoring in the 34th minute to give the Falcons a 4-1 lead they would take into halftime.
The hosts also scored quickly just over three minutes into the second half with a goal by Lanie Czerkies. Isabella Rapp added a goal at 59:17 to put Concordia ahead 6-1, and Kassie Herrmann scored the final goal midway through the second half.
Concordia finished with a big 34-5 advantage in shot attempts, including a 20-4 lead in shots on goal and a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks. Reyes and
Mikayla Belasco (
Fr.-Muskegon, Mich.) both registered two shots on goal teach for the Muskies and
Marlen Reyes (
Sr.-Milwaukee, Wis.) also added a shot attempt.
Faith Turley (
Lincoln, Ill.) made 12 saves in goal and it was the final match for five Lakeland seniors, including both Reyes sisters, Turley,
Aimee Hild (
Plano, Ill.) and
Ellie Rau (
West Allis, Wis.).
