DE PERE – St. Norbert College won all six contested matches and the Lakeland University women's tennis team closed the fall with a 7-0 loss Saturday afternoon in its final Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference dual of the season.
The Green Knights won two doubles matches on the court and a third by default to earn the doubles point, and then took all four singles matches played as well as two more by default. Lakeland finished the season with a 2-8 overall record and a 2-7 mark in the NACC.
Emily Pautz (
Sr.-Howards Grove, Wis.) and
Olivia Heling (
Jr.-West Bend, Wis.) had the two closest results in singles for the Muskies. Pautz lost a close first set to SNC's Grace Peters at No. 3 singles and eventually fell 6-4, 6-2. Heling was defeated by St. Norbert's Jordan Domnick 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
Allison Unverzagt of St. Norbert also defeated
Alexis Labonte (
Fr.-Portage, Ind.) 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Paige Diercks topped
Mary Johnson (
Jr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
Lakeland finished eighth of 10 teams in the final NACC standings. The Green Knights (7-2 overall, 7-1 NACC) are tied for second with Milwaukee School of Engineering with one dual remaining between those two teams.
