Lakeland releases schedule for 2024 football season

The Lakeland University football program has announced its schedule for the fall of 2024, a slate that will see the Muskies play seven of their 10 games in the state of Wisconsin.

Lakeland will face a challenging schedule that includes four home games and six road games. That includes the Muskies playing four home and four away in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Lakeland will have to wait a while for its home opener, playing three games before welcoming Wisconsin Lutheran College to Taylor Field on Sept. 28. The Muskies open on the road at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Sept. 7 and then the following week play their second non-conference game against former conference foe Greenville (Ill.) University. The Muskies and Panthers will face off for the first time since 2007, when both were in their final year as members of the now-defunct Illini-Badger Football Conference.

Lakeland then opens NACC play on the road at Concordia University Chicago Sept. 21 in River Forest, Ill. The Muskies then begin a two-game homestand that includes hosting Wisconsin Lutheran and then taking on Benedictine University Oct. 5 for Homecoming.

Other home games on the schedule include defending NACC champion Aurora University Oct. 26 and the season finale again versus Rockford University Nov. 16, the second time in three years that Lakeland will host Rockford to wrap up the season.

The Muskies also are at Eureka College Oct. 12 and at St. Norbert College Nov. 9, and the 33rd annual Cheese Bowl game is set for Nov. 2 at Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon.
