Alessandro Bianchi (
Sr.-Venice, Italy) and
Jacob Swigert (
So.-Sheboygan, Wis.) combined for a doubles win as the Lakeland University men's tennis team fell to Concordia University Chicago 8-1 Saturday in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference dual.
Bianchi and Swigert earned their first win this season in their second match as a team, competing at Number 2 doubles and defeating Kevin Bullens and Diego Loveshe of Concordia 8-2.
The win proved to be the only one for the Muskies (0-4 overall, 0-4 NACC), who also lost a pair of three-set matches in singles. Bianchi came close to a 2-0 record for the day, winning his first set at No. 4 singles but eventually fell to Loveshe 2-6, 6-3 and then 10-7 in the tiebreaking third set.
Ben Busalacchi (
Sr.-Muskego, Wis.) also went to three sets at No. 2 singles, taking the second set against Nathan Stringer of CUC. Stringer pulled out the third set tiebreaker to prevail 6-0, 2-6, 10-6.
Busalacchi and
Noriyuki Hatakenaka (
Jr.-Tokyo, Japan) also played together at No. 1 doubles and were competitive before falling 8-4 to Stringer and Collin Dickey. Hatakenaka also played at No. 1 singles for the first time and was defeated by Dickey 6-1, 6-2.
