Lakeland University football student-athletes
Robby Michael (
Jr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) and
Karlis Ozols (
Sr.-Fond du Lac, Wis.) both received academic honors when College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) released its NCAA Division III Academic All-District Teams Tuesday.
The awards are based on combined performances in the classroom and on the field. To be eligible, the nominee must be a starter or important reserve, have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.
Michael is majoring in sport management and leadership and just completed his third straight season as the Muskies' starting quarterback. He is a three-time all-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference selection on the gridiron and is a two-time NACC Scholar-Athlete Award winner.
Ozols is a graduate student who received his degree from Lakeland in sport management and leadership and is working on his master's in organizational leadership and development. He finished his career as a three-year starter at linebacker, was a two-time all-NACC pick and is a four-time winner of the NACC Scholar-Athlete Award.
In addition to his all-district honor, Michael also has been selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and advances to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District Football Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The CSC Academic All-America first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Jan. 28.
