MARIETTA, Ohio – Brandon Bloechel (So.-Sheboygan, Wis.) shot a strong first round and finished in the top 10 for the Lakeland University men's golf team at the two-day Pioneer Classic hosted by Marietta (Ohio) College which concluded Sunday.

Bloechel opened with a round of four-over par 74 on Saturday on the par-70, 6,205-yard layout at the Marietta Country Club. He closed with a round of 77 for a total of 151 to tie for seventh individually and help the Muskies to finish fifth of seven teams, with a team score of 624 that included scores of 315 on Saturday and 309 on Sunday.

Bloechel shot 37 on the front nine both days and also a 37 on the back nine on Saturday. The sophomore posted a pair of birdies in both rounds, including posting a 4 on the par-5, 494-yard second hole both days.

Roger Sauvage (Jr.-Seattle, Wash.) finished 14th individually with a score of 154 and was one of a number of Muskies to improve on the second day. Sauvage shot a score of 79 on Saturday before finishing with the team's best Sunday score of 75, including birdies on the par-4 7th and 11th holes.

Parker Braun (So.-Brillion, Wis.) tied for 18th with a total of 157 including rounds of 80 and 77. Braun also shot 37 on the back nine both days, including a birdie on the par-5, 500-yard 13th hole on Sunday.

Kaiden Dopp (So.-Wild Rose, Wis.) tied for 27th with a score of 162 with rounds of 82 and 80. Gabe Ascher (Jr.-Wautoma, Wis.) came in 37th with a total of 175 after shooting an 86 on Saturday and 89 on Sunday, and Ayden Long (Fr.-Oostburg, Wis.) was one spot behind him with a total of 180 that included a first-round 97 before improving 14 strokes to shoot 83 on Sunday.

Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College won the team title with a score of 594, finishing four shots ahead of host Marietta. William Ainsworth of Washington & Jefferson was medalist after posting a score of even-par 140 that included a final round of five-under 65.
