MADISON, Wis. – Lakeland University continued to show improvement, coming up just short in a trio of tiebreakers in a 7-0 men's tennis loss to Edgewood College on Good Friday afternoon at the Powless Tennis Center.

The Muskies lost a pair of third-set tiebreakers in singles play as well as a tiebreaker in doubles in dropping to 0-4 this season. Lakeland is still searching for its first singles or doubles win through four duals, but came its closest yet while taking on one of the better teams in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Levi Everts (Sr.-Hartford, Wis.) and Evan Vorpahl (Sr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) went to the wire in their Number 1 doubles match, finally falling to Andrew Hoffmann and Justin Hutchcroft 7-6, including 7-4 in the tiebreaker. Vorpahl also faced Hutchcroft in a terrific No. 2 singles match, with Hutchcroft finally prevailing 6-4, 4-6 and 11-9 in the tiebreaker third set.

Rob Grimes (Sr.-Plymouth, Wis.) also just missed his first win of the season, also winning the second set before Ethan Towne of Edgewood pulled out a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 win.

The Muskies were competitive in all seven contested matches, including at No. 2 doubles, where the Eagles' Jon Olafsson and Marek Woytasik defeated Ben Busalacchi (Sr.-Muskego, Wis.) and Daniel Siebert (Sr.-Mount Pulaski, Ill.) 6-2.

Lakeland faces Wisconsin Lutheran College next Saturday, April 26 at 11 a.m. at Hart Park in Wauwatosa.
