Roger Sauvage (
Jr.-Seattle, Wash.) and
Parker Braun (
So.-Brillion, Wis.) both improved their scores on the back nine in leading the Lakeland University men's golf team at the St. Norbert College Invitational at the Green Bay Country Club Monday.
Sauvage and Braun both finished inside the top 20 as the Muskies came in sixth of seven teams competing on a windy day at the par-72, 6,697-yard course. Lakeland finished with a team total of 342, just behind fifth-place Carroll University (340).
Sauvage tied for 13th individually with a round of 83 that included a 44 on the front nine and a 39 on the second nine. The junior finished with four pars on the back nine and even finished with a birdie on the par-4, 391-yard 18th hole.
Braun tied for 20th with a score of 85 which included 44 on the first nine and 41 on the back nine. Braun also posted four pars on the back nine as well as a birdie on the turn at the par-5, 526-yard 10th.
Kaiden Dopp (
So.-Wild Rose, Wis.) was just behind Braun with a score of 86 to tie for 26th. Dopp's round was highlighted by six pars as well as a 42 on the front nine.
Brandon Bloechel (
So.-Sheboygan, Wis.) shot an 88 that started with a 41 on the front nine before a 47 on the back. Bloechel posted a birdie on the long par-5, 591-yard sixth hole.
Gabe Ascher (
Jr.-Wautoma, Wis.) opened with a birdie on the par-4, 314-yard first hole and went on to finish with a score of 92.
Ayden Long (
Fr.-Oostburg, Wis.) and
Isaak Aune (
So.-Brussels, Wis.) both played as individuals with Long scoring 95 and Aune 100. Long got off to a good start with a birdie on the par-3, 170-yard fourth hole on the way to playing the first five holes at even par.
The Muskies now get ready for the final two rounds of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship, to take place Sunday and Monday at Stonebridge Country Club in Aurora, Ill.
