Before WLC's current streak, Lakeland had won the previous five meetings, including most recently a 56-7 win Sept. 18, 2021 on Homecoming. Larry Rivers set a school single-game record with six rushing touchdowns and Lakeland scored 50 points in the first half on the way to an easy win. The Muskies have won seven of 10 meetings between the teams at home in Plymouth and hold a 5-4 record in games at WLC.

Lakeland last time out: Won at Greenville 41-20 last week

The Muskies exploded for 27 points in the second quarter on the way to their first win of the season. Lakeland scored touchdowns on five consecutive drives in the first half on the way to a decisive 34-6 halftime lead, and the Panthers got no closer than 14 points the rest of the way. Jontae Lambert rushed for 115 yards and three scores and Carson Glosny threw three touchdown passes, connecting with Caden Kleparski, Caleb Besaw and Demarion Johnson for TDs. The Muskies also took advantage of five Greenville turnovers, including interceptions by Zelmarious Banks, Jacamreon Campbell and Trayvonne Roberts. Lakeland avenged a one-point loss to the Panthers last year and won a non-conference game for the first time since 2023.

Wisconsin Lutheran last time out: Defeated Ripon 25-24 last week
The Warriors rallied to win their home opener, coming back from down 24-12 in the fourth quarter with a pair of touchdowns in the final 10 minutes. Roman Morales hit Jakota Hase for four touchdown passes total in the game, including scoring passes of 26 and then two yards in the fourth, the second with 3:35 left giving WLC its first lead of the game after trailing by as much as 14 points. The Red Hawks then got only as far as their 44-yard line on their final drive and the Warriors improved to 2-0 this season. Morales completed 18 of 30 passes for 215 yards and four touchdowns, with Hase catching seven passes for 138 yards. Liam Heiges also rushed for 122 yards.

About the Warriors: Wisconsin Lutheran finished 5-5 overall last year and 5-3 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, tying for third in the final standings. The Warriors have won at least four conference games each of the last four years, including a 6-2 mark in 2024 as well as a 7-3 overall record that year that tied for the best record in the program's 26-year history.

Wisconsin Lutheran is coached again by Eric Treske, a WLC grad and a familiar face to Muskies football. Treske took over for longtime coach Dr. Dennis Miller in 2020 after spending seven years as an assistant at Lakeland, including his last five as offensive coordinator. The third coach in program history, Treske is in his seventh season at his alma mater, where he was a standout player in his four-year career.

Picking up where he left off: Playing in his first game of the season last week against Greenville, Zelmarious Banks intercepted a pass to continue his string of dominant play in pass coverage dating back to last season. Banks has now intercepted eight passes over his last eight games, including seven picks over Lakeland's last seven games last year. He was named a D3football.com preseason second team All-American this year after ranking among the NCAA Division III leaders in interceptions last season as a freshman, when he was third in the country in interceptions per game (0.70) and tied for fourth in total interceptions (7).

Four straight: Trayvonne Roberts also is off to a good start to the season, including the senior defensive back making a career-high 13 tackles last week against Greenville. Roberts also intercepted a pass against the Panthers, and with it has the distinction of intercepting at least one pass in all four of his seasons as a Muskie, with to date exactly one interception each season so far.

First win: Lakeland quarterback Carson Glosny picked up his first career win as a starter against Greenville, completing 19 of 32 passes for 158 yards and three touchdowns and also rushing for 44 yards. Glosny is in his first year with the Muskies, and the Green Bay area native and Notre Dame graduate has taken a circuitous route to playing close to home. He spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons at UW-Stevens Point, and in his second year appeared in three games, rushing twice for a total of seven yards and throwing two incomplete passes. Glosny then transferred to Kentucky Wesleyan College for the second semester last year, but then came to Lakeland and through two games has completed 44 of 75 passes for 435 yards, five touchdowns and just one interception.
