2021: Played in ten matches and a total of 33 sets in Muskies’ abbreviated season… Posted 43 kills with 24 errors in 126 attack attempts for a .151 hitting percentage… Also added 180 assists, 55 digs, ten service aces and eight blocks (three solo, five assisted)… Led team in assists and finished second in digs, third in kills and blocks and fourth in aces… Extended his Lakeland varsity record for career service aces, finishing the season with 83 career aces… Also moved into second all-time in Muskies varsity history in career assists (1,581)… Recorded season highs with nine kills, 41 assists and eight digs against Concordia (Wis.) March 2… Also added eight digs at Marian Feb. 18… Recipient of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Scholar-Athlete Award.

2020: Started all 20 matches and played in all 69 sets… Led team as well as the NACC with 568 assists… Also paced team with 30 service aces, and his 73 aces over three seasons is a Lakeland varsity career record… and added 136 digs and 11 blocks (five solo, six assisted)… Posted 59 kills with 37 errors in 171 attacks for a .129 hitting percentage… Finished second on team in digs and fourth in kills… Also came in second in NACC in aces and sixth in assists per set (8.23)… Notched career high with 15 digs at North Central (Ill.) Feb. 11… Recipient of NACC Scholar-Athlete Award.

2019: Played in 25 matches and a total of 82 sets as a sophomore… Led team with 570 assists and an average of 6.95 assists per set… Finished with 53 kills and 34 errors in 193 total attacks for a .098 hitting percentage… Added 134 digs, 25 blocks (two solo, 23 assisted) and 19 service aces… Finished second on team in digs and service aces… Also finished eighth in the NACC in assists and assists/set… Set a new career high with 46 assists against Marian on March 27… Also finished with season highs of 13 digs at MSOE March 13 and six kills against Loras (Iowa) Feb. 9.

2018: Played in 26 matches and a total of 80 sets as a freshman… Finished with 157 kills and 67 errors in 416 total attacks for a .216 hitting percentage… Also added 263 assists, 115 digs, 24 service aces and 19 blocks (two solo, 17 assisted)… Led team in service aces and finished second in assists and hitting percentage, third in kills and fourth in digs… Also finished eighth in the NACC in assists, ninth in assists/set (3.29), tied for ninth in service aces and 10th in aces/set (0.30)… Posted season-high 14 kills March 21 against MSOE on his way to NACC Player of the Week honors March 26 for the first time in his career… Recorded a high of 23 assists on two occasions, first against North Central (Ill.) on Feb. 17 and again as part of a triple-double (13 kills, 23 assists, 10 digs) March 31 at Aurora… Finished with season-best 11 digs at MSOE on April 10 and five service aces against Marian on March 2.

High School: Four-year member of volleyball team and was a two-year letter winner, and also played two years of basketball… Team captain as a senior, when he was named first team all-conference… Member of conference championship team and WIAA state runner-up as a junior.
 
Personal: Born Dec. 14, 1998… Son of Lance & Lora Ekum and has one brother (Jakob) and one sister (Bekah)… Majoring in business administration with an emphasis in sport management.
