Brandon Nelson

Brandon Nelson is in his first year as an assistant coach with the Lakeland College baseball team. He will coach the team’s catchers and also assist with hitters.

Nelson is in his first year as a coach and is still an active player well. He is a member of the Garden City (Kan.) Wind of the Pecos League, an independent professional league based in the Southwest and Midwest, playing for the team as a catcher last year and under contract for the team again this year. He played in 18 games as the team’s catcher with one home run and six RBIs and also pitched in one game, becoming the first ambidextrous pitcher in league history.

Nelson started his collegiate career Central Christian College in Kansas and also attended St. Gregory’s (Okla.) University in Oklahoma and Phoenix (Ariz.) College, the latter where he had Tommy John surgery and missed the season. He attended Merritt High School in Oklahoma and holds a number of hitting records at the school, and is a native of Elk City, Okla. He currently resides in Fond du Lac.
