Logan Mann

Lakeland University has announced that Logan Mann has been named the school’s new head baseball coach.

Mann comes to Lakeland with nine years of experience as a collegiate head coach. He led his alma mater Southern Virginia University from 2010-18, winning 139 games in nine seasons at the NCAA Division III school.

Mann led Southern Virginia when it was first a United States Collegiate Athletic Association program and through the process as it transitioned to Division III. His first four SVU teams qualified for the USCAA Small College World Series, including the program’s first-ever .500 season when it finished 21-21 in his first year.

Southern Virginia had its best season in program history in Mann’s second year, when in 2011 the Knights finished 30-10 overall and placed second in the USCAA. The 2011 Knights also set several offensive and defensive program records under Mann, including highest team batting average (.337), highest team slugging percentage (.509), most hits (415), most runs scored (311), most runs batted in (281), highest fielding percentage (.954) and lowest earned run average (3.60).

This past season, Southern Virginia finished 18-18 overall and tied for fourth of 10 teams in the Capital Athletic Conference. The Knights posted their best record since 2013 and their season was highlighted by a win over 16th-ranked Roanoke (Va.) College.

Mann also served in various administrative roles in the Southern Virginia athletic department. He spent two years as director of event management and gameday administrator, two more years as assistant director of compliance, and also a year as the director of athletic development.

Mann played for Southern Virginia from 2007-09, where he was a three-year starter as a pitcher and infielder. He received his bachelor’s degree from Southern Virginia in business management and Spanish, and received his master’s degree in sports management and administration from the United States Sports Academy.

“I am very excited and honored for the opportunity to join the Muskies family,” said Mann. “I would like to thank Athletic Director April Arvan, Coach Aaron Nester and the rest of the search committee for showing confidence in me, and giving me this opportunity to lead the Muskies baseball program.

“I look forward to the challenge of rebuilding this program and believe my experiences of the past nine years will help me lead the Muskies baseball program as we strive for excellence within the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, the region and nationally.”

Mann is married to wife Rebecca, and they have three children, Kinzley, Baylor and Amelia.
