Biography

Lakeland: Nielsen is a transfer to Lakeland from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, where he played for the Mustangs in 2020 before the team’s season was ended by the COVID-19 virus. He also spent three years as a member of the program at the University of Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Morningside: Played in four games for the NAIA Mustangs, starting all four, and batted 0-for-6 with a run batted in…. Walked five times and also was hit by a pitch for a .500 on-base percentage.

Sioux Falls: Played in 23 games as a junior for the NCAA Division II Cougars in 2019, starting 22… Posted five hits in 62 at bats (.081 average) with four runs batted in, four runs scored and one stolen base.

High School: Four-year letter winner on the baseball team and was a first team all-state selection in Iowa in addition to first team all-conference.

Personal: Born Sept. 10, 1997… Son of Roy Nielsen III and Marie Bio and has two brothers (Billy and Tony)… Pursuing his master’s in business administration.
