Biography

2021: Played in 26 games, starting all 26, and batted .327 with 33 hits in 101 at bats… Doubled seven times, drove in 24 runs and scored 15 runs while also stealing two bases… Finished third on team in batting average, doubles and RBIs and fifth in hits… Set career highs with four hits and four RBIs, going 4-for-6 at MSOE April 18, and finished doubleheader that day with six hits and six RBIs… Also pitched in four games, starting three, and posted a 1-0 record with a 5.32 earned run average… In 23 2/3 innings allowed 28 hits and 17 runs (14 earned) with 13 strikeouts and 11 walks… Threw 9 1/3 innings in his first start and pitching appearance of the season April 25 against Wisconsin Lutheran, allowing 10 hits and three runs with five strikeouts.

2020: Played in five games in the Muskies’ shortened season, starting four… Recorded three hits in 18 at bats (.167 average) with four runs batted in and two runs scored… Also pitched in two games, starting one, and allowed no earned runs in 9 2/3 innings… Allowed nine hits and one unearned run with 15 strikeouts and three walks in going without a decision… In doubleheader against Plymouth State (N.H.) March 11 pitched 6 2/3 innings in the first game, allowing five hits with a career-high 10 strikeouts, then in second game drove in a pair of runs… Recipient of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Scholar-Athlete Award.

2019: Played in 30 games in the field, starting 29… Batted .327 with 33 hits in 101 at bats… Hit three doubles, scored six runs, and drove in 13 runs... Finished second on team in batting average and third in hits and RBIs… Had a season-high three hits April 6 at Edgewood… Also pitched in five games, starting one, and posted a 1-0 record with a 6.75 earned run average… In 9 1/3 innings allowed five hits and eight runs (seven earned) with 12 strikeouts and nine walks… In his lone start against Maranatha Baptist April 25 threw 4 1/3 innings to get the win, allowing only one hit and two walks while striking out six… Recipient of NACC Scholar-Athlete Award.

2018: Pitched in eight games, starting five, and posted a 2-3 record with a 10.03 earned run average… In 23 1/3 innings allowed 40 hits and 33 runs (26 earned) with 12 strikeouts and 19 walks… Tied for team lead in wins and was second in starts and third in innings pitched and tied for third in pitching appearances… Played in six games in the field, starting five… Batted .231 with three hits in 13 at bats… Hit one double, one triple and scored one run... Recipient of NACC Scholar-Athlete Award.

2017: Played in 18 games as a freshman, starting all 18, and batted .290 with 18 hits in 62 at bats… Posted two doubles, seven runs batted in, seven runs scored and one stolen base… Finished with season-high three hits when he was 3-for-5 with two runs scored in second game of doubleheader April 8 against Marian… Recipient of NACC Scholar-Athlete Award.

High School: Two-year letter winner on baseball team and was a team captain, league MVP and first team all-league as a senior... Honorable mention all-San Jose Mercury News South Bay team as a senior.

Personal: Born Oct. 6, 1997… Son of Curtis Banks & Julie Rome-Banks and has one brother (Jeremy)… Completed a double major at Lakeland in sports management and leadership and marketing with a minor in psychology, and is now working on his masters in leadership and organizational development.


Career ambition/goal: Pro baseball, president of baseball operations for a Major League Baseball team, or be an athletic director/baseball coach

Greatest sports accomplishment: Leading my high school team to our first sectional game and first sectional home game in over 10 years my senior season
Why did you choose Lakeland? I loved the atmosphere and the vibe during my visit. I also like that you get to know a vast majority of the other students on campus. Lastly, I wanted to continue to playing baseball, and Lakeland gave me the best shot.
