2025: In his first year with the Muskies played in 36 games, starting all 36… Batted .206 with 26 hits in 126 at bats… Hit four doubles, one home run, drove in 15 runs, scored 21 runs and stole three bases… Hit a grand slam for his first homer as a Muskie against Benedictine March 28… Posted three three-hit games, first against Utica (N.Y.) March 12, again the next day versus Alfred (N.Y.) March 13 and again at Concordia Wisconsin March 26… Went 1-for-4 with a hit by pitch, three RBIs and three runs scored against Fontbonne (Mo.) March 9… Recipient of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Scholar-Athlete Award and was named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree.

Yuba College: Sumsion transferred to Lakeland after spending two years at Yuba Community College in Linda, Calif., where he played in 68 games over two years and batted .255 with 51 hits and 19 RBIs in 200 at bats.

High School: Three-year letter winner in baseball and also lettered two years in soccer and one year in football… All-conference honorable mention in soccer as a junior… All-state academic team in all three sports… Named school’s Outstanding Male Student as a senior.

Personal: Son of Jonathan Sumsion and Dana Smith and has one brother (Adam Smith)… Majoring in sport management & leadership.

Why did you choose Lakeland? I loved the coaching staff right away and loved the environment of Lakeland. I also noticed that the school cared for sports which would help my career desires.
